Maurice Nistico is a Certified Financial Planner® with 40 years of experience.

He joined Hood Sweeney Securities in 2024 as a Senior Financial Planner from his own business based in Port Augusta, in part to ensure his clients are served and supported long into the future by a large financial planning team. As Maurice enters his 40^th professional year, he was seeking to safeguard ongoing, sustainable care for his regional clients.

Maurice has developed a financial planning methodology – a way of doing things – that he says has enabled thousands of clients from all walks of life to simplify their affairs, increase their income and savings, and enhance the quality of their lives.

“I’ve been helping clients to retire smiling since 1985,” said Maurice.

While he has seen major investment market swings over the past four decades, Maurice said he has studied people’s reactions to the differing market cycles. This has led him to the conclusion that “investor behaviour – not investment markets - determine a person’s financial well-being”.

While Maurice has a special interest in helping clients with retirement planning, at the other end of the spectrum he has a desire to contribute to the sustainability of, and access to, financial advice for Australians and believes mentoring the next generation of Financial Planners is the best way to achieve this.

Outside of work, Maurice’s interests include gardening, playing guitar and harmonica, cooking with family and friends, and making his own small-batch wine. He also likes to load up the 4WD and caravan and head to the Flinders Ranges.
