Jake recently became a Financial Planner after completing his Professional Year with Hood Sweeney Securities.
He joined Hood Sweeney in 2020 in an undergraduate role in Finance. Working closely with the Financial Planning team on clients, he realised where his interest lay longer-term, and in 2021 he moved across to Hood Sweeney Securities.
Setting his sights on being able to provide personal financial advice to clients, Jake has worked towards achieving this, moving from Adviser Support to an Analyst position and then starting his Professional Year.
Jake is passionate about working with clients to help them achieve their financial and lifestyle goals.
“It is so rewarding to be able to answer client questions, educate and support them in their decision making. Most of all I enjoy hearing people’s life stories and knowing what I’ve contributed has made a positive impact for them.”
Jake is an integral part of our Regional Team, travelling regularly to Whyalla and Port Augusta to meet with clients. Jake believes spending time regionally allows him to get a good understanding of the pulse of South Australia and its key industries.

Once you demonstrate that you are genuinely committed to the community, you can build strong, trusting relationships with clients, which is incredibly meaningful to me.”
Jake is a go-to brand ambassador for Hood Sweeney. From client events to university expos where he speaks to students about what they can expect in the profession and about Hood Sweeney as an employer, Jake has a strong capacity for building rapport.
In his own time Jake plays water polo and trains for Ironman events. An avid sports fan Jake finds healthy competition at any opportunity from lunchtime pool competitions and footy tipping to clocking up the highest number of steps for the Stepathon. Most of all, Jake values time with his family.
